"My greatest joy is to create beauty where there is none, and to accentuate beauty where it already exists."

~Loren Lavine, artist/designer
"Natalie's Song" 54x20" acrylic on canvas

Why paint?

My love of painting began at the age of 5, when I realized I could translate my emotions into art; whether that surface is paper, a wall, ceramic tile, or a canvas, the result is just as fulfilling as the inspiration. Over 40 years of painting, I still find myself drawn to many types of media, and a myriad of genres, but I most appreciate the outlet of expression abstracts offer me.

Where does my inspiration come from?

Most of my designs come to me through dreams, or following my meditations. Many of my painting include versions of traditional basket designs from the Hoopa Valley Tribe, of which I am an enrolled tribal member and where I was born and raised. I love the co-mingling of those deep cultural roots and modern abstract minimalism.

Where can you view or purchase a painting?

Aside from commissioned paintings, I am in possession of most of my original designs, however, I do offer digital downloads of my work for sale at my Etsy shop Loren Lavine Printable.
